Endurance Innovation Podcast

John was invited back to the Endurance Innovation podcast to discuss various aerodynamic testing tools, methodologies, and the real-world challenges of measuring and interpreting CdA data in outdoor cycling — covering everything from the Streamlines wind and rider position sensing to the pitfalls of real-time CdA display, and rounding off with a look at the effect of tyre temperature on rolling resistance. Listen to the episode here Erratum: After listening to the podcast, John realised that he gave incorrect figures for the wattage standard deviations during the episode. The best outdoor tests currently achieve standard deviations of approximately 0.8 W. We do have some indoor tests from the Catesby tunnel with even better resolution which we will publish...
Rider Self-Testing Case Study: Anna Kiesenhofer
Posted on
Anna Kiesenhofer — Olympic gold medallist in the Tokyo 2020 road race and a mathematician by training — is no stranger to the pursuit of marginal gains. In October 2025, she took delivery of a Streamlines aerodynamic testing system at her base in Switzerland's Rhône valley, aiming to optimise her time trial setup ahead of the 2026 season. The equipment arrived on 22 October: a Streamlines Forma body position sensor and Altostratus wind probe, along with a custom carbon mounting plate. Anna rides a Pinarello Bolide time trial bike, and the first challenge was finding a clean way to fix the sensor beneath the aerobars. Over a couple of days of back-and-forth with the Streamlines team — mounting options, laser...

Cycling Technology Networking Event: Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub
Posted on
We were thrilled to attend the inaugural Cycling Technology Networking Event at Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub on February 12, 2025. The event featured insightful industry talks, facility tours, and live demonstrations. John Buckley gave a talk on “Normalising Variables in Outdoor Aerodynamic Testing”—a crucial factor which enables the high accuracy of our CIRRUS aerodynamic drag measurement system. Beyond the presentations, the event provided a great opportunity to connect with fellow industry professionals, catch up with current customers, and meet potential new ones. Looking forward to the next one!
